Did you know that tobacco cessation programs are increasingly eligible for insurance coverage when prescribed by a physician? Coverage (or reimbursement) may be partial or total, and is usually done on a case-by-case basis for medical necessity.
Start with contacting your physician, and have his or her office check with your insurance carrier. (This is sometimes more effective than if you contact your carrier.) You can also show your doctor and insurance carrier a copy of my book, and my website; they should find these helpful in understanding what a naturopathic basis for tobacco cessation is all about, and whether to cover coaching.
Please note that while I do not bill insurance carriers nor seek provider status with them and instead receive payment directly from my coaching clients, any coverage issues or reimbursement is between you, your doctor, and your carrier. Of course, I'd be happy to talk with your doctor, if necessary.
